Today in Smiths class we turned in our homework which is the grammar sentences. Homework for the weekend is: Redo position paper due at end of six weeks you must see Smith or go into writing lab, action plan due March 23, finally relationship chart for book is due Monday, Print off rubric here, also share with Smith. Then in class we took our weekly grammar quiz and signed up for speeches next week. We also talked about the ending of the book, and checked out new books. We talked about how relationships change and grow, just like how with Chris and his mom there relationship grew but with his dad it shrunk and grew.Relationships change and grow all throughout the story, like Chris and Mr. Shears there relationship changed. A great question we talked about is: Is trust in a family, love, or friend relationship different kinds of trust’s or is trust just one thing? In the last 15 minutes of class we had work time to work on relationship chart.

Today in Smith’s English 9 class, we started off with grammar, during that we learn about infinitives, (to eat, to leave, to jump) and correlative conjunctions with always have two in one sentence (this week is; both/and) After grammar was over we moved on to the song/poem packet and read the poem, To a Daughter Leaving Home, with had main points of the child leaving and the parent not wanting it to happen. This connected very well with our current reading in CIDNT, when Chris left home to live with his mom. After the poem, we talked about the weekend’s reading, ch. 167-181 and the conflicts that arose during it. Later we split up into groups of relationship trace and reading Our homework is finish reading chapters, 191-197, work on relationship trace, action plan completion and redo paper, (you need a conference first)!

In todays Smith’s all boys class, Smith was not here because she was visiting her Grandma in Arizona. We started by doing our grammar for Monday on parts of speech. We then got our CSAP packet for this week. We went over the reading for our homework on 61-83. We asked questions to eachother over the reading homework last night and answered the questions.

Today in Smith’s English 9 class, we got a new seating chart and then finished up Jack, Isaiah, Caleb and Joey’s presentations. All of them did a nice job by the way. After that we got our grammar faces on and showed how grammar is really done. After that, for those in need, Smith passed out our new books, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time” and time still isn’t up to pick up your own copy! Once those were passed out we discussed the syndrome background articles that should have been completed already. Once the heated discussion came to a halt we were given work time to do our homework. (What’s the homework Dan?) Our homework is to write a one paragraph essay on a relationship in your family that is difficult. Write about your side and the opposing side. Why is that relationship so difficult? What steps can you take to make it better? This will later intervene with our new readings. Our other homework is to get that action plan done and to complete the CSAP packet (handed out today) about America the Beautiful.

In Smiths class on this winter wonderland of a February 10th we watched the classes action plan presentations. They were Oscar worthy performances. Today in Smith’s English 9 we started off with grammar and in order to have maximum time to present our action plans tomorrow we did Wednesday, Thursday and Friday's grammar. (The diagram is below). Both sentences have one independent clause, making them simple sentences. Remember action plan presentations are due tomorrow. Also, because of over achievement, Tyler presented his action plan today. Smith said he did a good job because he had little to no text, he had pictures that corresponds to the presentation and he use pictures and video to help. So now the whole presentation order will jump one spot.

Hello to all of Smiths class. Since the humongous blizzard today was just a jam packed day of learning and excitement. We started by going over our homework. Our awesome teacher moved the due date for our action plan presentation back to Thursday due to confusion and misunderstanding. Today in our wonderful all-bros English class the amazing Smith taught us all the wonders of GRAMMAR! for our Tuesday section of the packet we analyzed the sentences, “can you come over and watch the movie casablanca after school” and “the chemistry club visited boulder university colorado for an experiment” and sought out the sentence parts and phrases. Smith says, “you can always rephrase a sentence into a question to find the verb.” can you come over? “who comes over?” (YOU) To find the direct object or the predicate nominative, in this case we are looking for the DO. (remember,”subject, verb what?”) Then Smith gave us the rest of class to work on our papers and CSAP packet.

Smiths fantastic English class was jam packed with activities and learning opportunities. The first fun and exciting learning we did was our grammar. We received two new sentences and started editing them by finding each and every words part of speech. This information is found in your Monday section of the grammar packet that we were given. Next we took place in a fun game of musical chairs editing. We edited out peers intro paragraph and their first body paragraph. You can find exactly what we edited on our class calender. Finally our class outlined our second body paragraph. This body paragraph is the same outline as our first body paragraph but the main point is about the belief you have. This Monday was jammed packed with learning so make sure that you make it up quickly if you missed.

Today in Smiths all guy class we did Monday and Tuesday days of grammar because we had Monday off. We started the day by getting our grammar quiz back. Then we all got a Csap packet called Einstein's Practical Joke, make sure you read the questions first and find key words. We then did the Wednesday portion of our grammar practice (refer to Grammar packet). We also had to fix an error we made on Tuesday change president from a direct object to a predicate nominative (see packet for reason). After we finished that we got the rest of class to work.

In our superb english class we discovered Smith will be sitting one row seats above the nuggets benches. So don't forget to tune in to see Smith cheering on our pro-Nuggets. We then corrected all of our sentences for our Tuesday requirements. Soon after that Smith decided she would prep us for CSAP by showing us our scores and targeting our weaknesses so that we may improve them. For an example we used Lou then she showed us how we have an estimated score and what our score actually was and how she might improve them for us. For the next two or three days Smith will be calling us up individually and helping us through our weaker parts. When we are not having a 1v1 session discussing CSAP with her we have free time to work on and or highlight/read our 10 articles we need by Friday.

For the majority of the class, we walked through our first grammar quiz and highlighted some of the more important topics in our grammar packet (remember to bring a highlighter now), After that we got our laptops and started working on our CTW essay by finding more research topics on the website we must use. NO USING GOOGLE, ONLY THE WEBSITE THAT WAS GIVEN TO US. We have lots of time to work on it, but remember to go in at least three times to get help on the essay. From this point on, we will also have CSAP practices every Wednesday that will be due on Fridays.

In Smith's English 9, we started class on a good note with the possibility of a huge reword based on how we do on our CTW (Change the World) paper. Next, we went to our grammar packet. First off, was dependent and independent clauses. A dependent clause can not stand alone, while an independent clause can. One independent clause = One simple sentence. This is what we need to know, just for now at least. After clauses was punctuation and capitalization. Three lines means it should be a capital and a ^ under a period means that it was added in. Also, remember to check the diagram in the packet.
The second part of class was working on our CSAP practice questions in our packet. We found the important part of each question then circled them to be sure we know what we should be looking for.
In the final minutes of class, we went to a site for new ideas for our CTW paper.

Homework: CSAP packet, MAYBE a grammar quiz, ideas for our CTW paper. 5-10 (most likely 5) really good ones. Book mark at least three pages in the website above.

Today in the first day of the so called, "last year on earth" we reviewed class expectations and our no D policy, and all the other expectations. We also went over our grading and how it will be done including a new 10% of our grade which is Grammar, mostly for the first 9 weeks to prepare for CSAP. As we moved on we are starting a new thing of copying improper sentences every Monday and slowly day by day we will make one change. By Friday the sentence should be proper and in stellar condition. That Friday we will take a test to format a sentence to be formal. Starting with a sentence similar to what we had on Monday. We can use our grammar packet on this test. Later we talked about injustices, and wrote down many of the issues in this world, for our DOL 1 essay. Tomorrow we will be meeting in room C22.

In Smiths class on Tuesday, right before our late start (thankfully), we had a substitute teacher, Mr. Rosenberg. We then finished the last of act four, scene two of ‘’Inherit the Wind.’’ For what we know now, Drummond had trapped Brady and turned Brady’s own words against him. Drummond had used a rock to show there is no way to say how long the earth has been around, and also used the sun to point out there was no real way to determine how long creationism really was. Brady was depressed about his loss at the end and basically excepted defeat. Like Will M. said, ‘’Drummond overcame the power of Brady in the court and showed up Brady. Drummond made Brady sad at the end of the court scene.’’ Basically, Drummond stole Brady’s confidence. We then spent the last 15 minutes reading the first part of act three, which took place in the courtroom again.

Today in Smith’s English 9 we went over the procedure for tomorrows Skype, (remember this is a HUGE DEAL, Mr. Smith and others worked like crazy for this to happen, you must thank them!!!!) the procedure is, find your seat, plug in headset, turn computer on, accept terms of use, sign into Skype, and talk away. We then read Act 2 Scene 2 from Inherit the Wind.

Today in Smith’s lovely class we talked over about editing our This I believe essay. The following is important to put your TIB essay in Smiths folder. First make sure to export and save it as your name. ex ScottA, you need to save it as a word doc. First click on classes on a library computer, then click on smith, and click on English 2. Finally drop the doc into the drop box. To drop it in you drag the doc into the drop box. She will be able to see if you put the doc into the drop box. Other piece of homework that is not required is to redo Facebooking the Odyssey. Also we did our Pln presentations, so tell your folks at home to watch your great presenting skills. We also wanted to drop our writing piece into the drop box and went to Mr. Fisch’s blog and read “What Should be the Purpose of School” and we clicked on the google form and filled it out.

Today in our fantastic, fun charismatic class we finally got around to reading one of the most fascinating books in the world! In our Superb class we reviewed that our TIB essays are due by the Monday after thanksgiving break. Can I get a wahoo for one week off school? To get full credit on our TIB essay you need to go in for writing lab or either see Smith and proofread to make your essay near-perfect. After we reviewed that we got around to reading, along with acting out, our book, Inherit the Wind. Although some people in our class don’t exactly know their roles yet, we still attempted to act out the scenes as best as we can. Don’t forget to bring your own book tomorrow so that Smith doesn’t have to loan you one of hers. You know that leads to depressing things. Get it…The Great Depression?

Today in Mrs. Smiths English 9 class we worked on our new vocab card which was the world “Benevolent”. Today’s attendance was good we were only missing two people. Facebook characters are due tomorrow, go to Will M or Trent N or a couple others for help. Lou demonstrated “Benevolent” on the board. Benevolent means, Kindly or Well-meaning, antonym is Malevolent, and a sentence using benevolent is “The benevolent Bill Gates donates millions of dollars to underprivileged organizations". After we worked on our vocab card we worked on our Facebooks for the rest of the class.

In George F. “Will’s Lost in Electronica” talks about how boys are being board to much. This matters to me because i don't like being board its no fun but. It is hard to be doing something fun every second and it is hard to be doing something every second. And Doctors are now saying it is not good to be board for a long time and i do not want to be doing something that is not good for me. This matters to education because kids get board allot in school and it is hard to learn when its boring. Everyone seams to remember thing vary well it is was fun and existing. But know one remembers ideas that are boring. So how are kids going to learn if they are board all the time in school. This matters to the world because if kids are not learning in school because they are board how is the world going to move forward in technology and in the future. I is also not healthy for humans t be board allot. The article talks about how 50 years ago people would get board after two hours of nothing to do now people get board after 30 seconds of nothing to do. Doctors say the reason for this is technology. So do you think that technolagy has help the world and humans after all. All in all, boredom is a problem for boys and for eveyone and is a problem that humans need to fix.

Today in Mrs.Smith’s class we started of with copying down our homework. All redos are due by tomorrow. We continued to read the Odyyessey. Page 560 line 300 tell the end. Odysseus
defeats his enemy’s and rejoins himself with his wife Penelope. Penelope tests him with a secret that only he would know to make sure he is the real Odysseus. We than got our computers out to work on our Facebook page and watched a movie on the books. The scene we started with was the scene in the Cyclops’s cave. Odysseus and his men escaped the cave only losing 2 of his warriors. They make it to the land of Circe’s Palace where Odysseus’s men have been turned into animals. After he sleeps with Circe, her women than feed them lotus flower and seduce them into a calm relaxing state of mind. Circe tricks them in thinking that they’ve been there for five days but really they’ve been there five years. Odysseus soon realizes hes been there for way to long. He takes his men and leaves. He must now travel to the depths of hell to talk to Tiresias. When hes there he learns he must travel through the land of Scylla and Charybdus. We Skip ahead a few chapters to when he is at home and with his with Penelope. We ran out of time and stopped the movie. Homework for tonight is to work on your Facebook page and to do any and all redos for tomorrow.

Today, in Smith’s English 9, we finished up our short quiz on book 12 of the Odyssey. We then read book 21. Tomorrow we will watch clips of the Odyssey and get some facebook work time. Dear Mr. Mcleod,

In your post, “In the Future,computer and data everywhere” I can imagine how school, medicine, business, and life will all be greatly altered because of the advances in technology. If the advancements in the video become reality school will be totally change. Instead of carrying around a big book we will be given a tablet that will contain everything that we would ever need. We will be able to communicate with our teachers and have discussions to make us more inventive and resourceful learners. We can also collaborate with people all over the world and learn what they believe and why. We will be able to see how other people live from the comfort of our school, office or even out very own house. Our business will become a lot more connected and intertwined with the world because the world is really at out finger tips. Goods and ideas can be shared and talked about to make changes that will help the seller become more successful. If the technology shown in “In the Future, computer and data everywhere” becomes actuality our world would instantly become connected through a screen.

Then we started to read The Odyssey: Book 12.

During this chapter, Odysseus and his men left Circe’s Island and headed for home. Although they were headed home they could not go the easy route, they must: Ignore the sirens (A bird like women that sings to draw you toward them and crash your ship),quickly row past Scylla who will take six of his men(A six headed flying beast that lives high up in the prowling rocks), go around the prowling rocks and drifters, and row as fast as possible to get away from Charybdis. After completing these goals Odysseus lost six of his best men, but made it through alive. Past the rocks is the land of Helios and his cattle, Odysseus’s men ignored his warning and raided the cattle. Helios very frustrated made Zeus destroy Odysseus's ship in which all of his men died. Proving Polyphemus’s prayer request to come true(He prayed to Poseidon, his father).

After completing Book 12 we took the quiz, however we did not finish.
Be ready to complete the quiz tomorrow.
Also if our beloved projector is fixed we will watch the scenes from the movie about Odysseus

Dear Mr . Mcleod,

After i read your "Districts are Still Fearful of Teachers Communicating with Students using Facebook", i really agree with you in that it is human nature for us to not like or be scared of something that is new or different. This matters to me because i am not good at technology at all and now that i am in high school i use computers all the time. So i am always behind and catching up because i don't know how to use the technology. But i am slowly getting batter and i am more familiar with the computers now. This matters to education because not all students have the same equipment that the schools have. Computers are not cheep so teachers have to make Sheree that all the students have a computer or can get one. Because what if the teacher assigns homework on the Internet. I the student doesn't have that he cant do the homework. This matters to the world because the world is getting more modern each day and if we don't teach are students how to use the technology and the tools that the modern world is using. How will we advance in the future. What do you think schools will be like in 10 years. All in all, schools and the world are advancing in technology and we need to teach are students in the future and now how to use it.

In Smith’s spectacular second hour class we have three pieces of homework.
1.Three questions from chapters 11-18 in Into the Wild.
2.Get prepared for the big graded discussion on Monday.
3.Do PLN 13 “Googley Advice” over the weekend due Monday. (Remember that only on the Tuesday PLN do you write a letter to the author)
On the agenda today we had a splendid vocabulary quiz where we had to know the part of speech, know the definition, and write a sentence using the word. We also listened to PLN presentations from our following classmates. Alex Morris who did his PLN 10 about Karl Fisch’s “Just Write Poorly, In Public, Everyday” I personally think Alex did a fantastic job! Isaiah did his “What Matters” which was also good but didn’t end with a question. Jack Marion also did his “What Matters” and ended with a great question. Scotty did his “PLN4” which was about a very serious topic, underage drinking. Trent also did his “What Matters” Just a note to everyone keep your hands at your sides and finish with a question. We had some extra time at the end of class so we broke into small groups and either read or worked on our PLN 13. Just another fantastic day in Smith’s all boys class.

Today in Mrs. Smiths English 9 all boys class we started off by going over our homework which was to read chapters 15 & 16, ask meaning full questions, connections, and annotations. Also we have a vocab quiz tomorrow on all our vocab words including the vocab card that is due tomorrow. Tomorrow several of the students in our class will be presenting on our PLN work in front of the class. Today we listened to the song "long Nights" and made connections from it to the other stories that we have read in the past. Then we read chapter 15 in "Into The Wild" and discussed it.

Today in Smiths class we first talked about homework. Todays home work consists of: vocab quiz, PLN 12 and read chapters 11-12. Then Smith told us about how helpful it was hyperlinking the actual blog to our blog. Also remember to cross-post our PLN. Short story redos are due today. For the people who did not get a good score on the scored discussion, Smith told us to come in and talk to her. Next we read more of Thoreau’s Higher Laws. We connected this passage by Thoreau to Chris Mcandless. Our class looked for quotes so that we can connect with “into the wild” Chris is living the extreme. He continues finding challenges for himself. Next smith told us that we have two options, reading chapters 11-12 as a class or work on PLN 12.

“2020 Vision”, by Karl Fisch describes our huge leap in technology developments and how the class of 2020 will look back at technology today and laugh. Already much technology equipment has been designed in this early 21^st century, and it is absolutely mind blowing on how advanced the world has become. The class of 2020 most likely started their learning career in 2007. That year is significant to me because the first ever Iphone was created. Economically the creation of all the new technology has been downright expensive, but in 2020 the price tag for a laptop might be double from what it is today because of the increase in technology. By 2018 the world may stop importing oil goods and run completely off of energy. My own thoughts are during or by the end of this decade, you won’t see many of your favorite television shows live, instead you will probably watch them on a cell phone or laptop. Let’s face it most Americans don’t watch the season premiere of Glee when it’s airing live! Instead they just record and watch it when they aren’t as busy, or they might just search up funny clips from the episode online. I’m not saying television will be extinct; they just won’t be used as often. Overall, I have no clue on what the world will be like for the class of 2020; however I wish the best of luck to you guys on trying to keep up with technology.

Today in Smith’s class we did many thing’s. First off, homework due Monday is to read chapters 9-10 and write down three higher level questions. Also GE 6 which is, write a letter to Chris from someone who is against what Chris is doing. PLN 11 needs to be posted on your own blog. On Monday be prepared to discuss chapters 5-10. Then we turned in vocab cards and watched PLN presentations. Overall good presentations but leave out unneeded words such as like and um. Also bring a note card so you are not messing with your hands and so you don't look at the board. To add on to that look at more than just a few people, look at every one in the class. After presentations Smith checked for the three questions over chapters 5-8. Finally to end the day, Smith helped people that need help with google maps and every one else had free work time.

Today in our all guys class we started off by going over what makes the new type of pln good. It includes; a good topic sentence (MAKE SURE YOU INCLUDE A WHY IN THE TOPIC SENTENCE), good connections, and good questions. Today In smiths Amazing 2nd hour English class we read just write poorly by mr. fisch. We then learned how to respond to blogs and how to respond correctly. To respond we have to start off with a good topic sentence. An example topic sentence is Mr. Fisch- I really am intrigued by your idea of publishing writing constantly and continually; I am going to challenge myself to write online more frequent so that I can become a better writer. We then say how the post connects to us, education and the world. then you ask questions that you have and after that we will sum it up with a concluding sentence. So now on Tuesday's when we have a free choice for PLN you will have to cross post. That means you will post it to your own blog and then respond to the author. You don’t want to link the post when you respond. When you do post you are going to want to prof read refer to them as Mr. ___________. To respond after you read go to comments and reply there. We later looked at google maps and if we want to use google maps instead of google earth you can. We then listened to music and looked at pictures. For homework tonight we have PLN 10, Google earth 5, read chapter 5 and remember that our re-dos for our essays are due this Friday. You must go in for help on that to get points back. Today we learned about a large amount of how to connect multiple things at once and we determined our G-Force team, Austin, Scott, Lou, Alex E, and Smith. Go to our G-Force team if anyone needs help on GE then you can go to these people and they will help you. The first thing we did in class was we listened to smith read us a piece titled, “Walden” by Thoreau and told us to think about connections to it while she was reading it to us. After she finished reading we read it and highlighted and made even more connections. Next, we listened to two songs by the lead singer of Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder, “Sitting Forth,” and, ”No Ceiling.” While listening to the songs and Eddie’s moans and groans and had to highlite and underline a small section or so that connected to to build a fire. Such as, on stanza two in “Setting Forth” he says

Today during smiths wacky class we discussed about redoing our essay. If you want to redo your essay you must bring your essay into writing lab or go into the language arts office and get a signature by a teacher. Connect your old short story to the knew one. The new essay is do next Friday! Our homework is to redo any Pln or writing assignments that are incomplete and turn them in before Friday! Post your to build a fire paragraph. Also today Smith looked like a Goober today and made me giggle on the inside. GE means Google Earth. We need to do Google Earth 1-3. Many people had problems finding google earth. To get to google earth on a triple E click on other apps on the homepage and then double click on google earth. If your google earth picture doesn’t show up you must log in to the Internet. We are going to create a journey of our learning throughout the book In To the Wild. We must promise to save our google earth profile every night. Write every writing piece in google docs. You need to get a jump drive in case you don’t own one. You can download google earth to your home computer for free. Here’s how you create a google earth folder. 1st left click my places, then right click on your left click. Then add a folder. Title the folder your first name and last names first initial. Every place mark you make is google earth 1,2,3 etc. First find the place you want by searching it in the search bar. The first google place mark is a place that matters to you the most. click on the push pen to place a mark. Copy and paste your what matters essay to your google earth and title it GE1: what matters to me. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! To save drag your GE1 and drop it in to your folder. Then right click your folder and save it to your thumb drive. For your Ge2 put your To build a fire paragraph in your google earth folder. Here is the walk through to save on your thumb drive. First go to your folder right click and save place and save it to the desktop. Then copy the document and paste it in your thumb drive.

Today in Smith’s class she first talked about how some people need to do their redo’s on there short story.Our home work today was read to build a fire and annotate it and PLN 8 due Wednesday. Miss Smith showed us a good example of a PLN 7 by Lou and Will. Lou’s writing has hyperlinks and he connected two stories together also he used the vocab word. He had a good topic sentence. Then our class read Will’s PLN which they both got 10/10 on. WIll had connected a lot of the information to himself and the world. Smith was saying, by reading there PLN’s we can learn from them. Lou and will both proofread their work. Next our class moved our desks in a circle so we can annotate “To Build A Fire” We talked about the story more and how the person in the story has connections to Alaska. Our class thought that the coldness of the story can be a motif. The dog and the man shows words and actions affect each other. We annotated all the important parts of of the story and we made connections. After that, Smith told us to finish the story and annotate for everyone who didn’t annotate then the bell rang.

Today in the most amazing class in the world, we crammed our head with more information than we did yesterday! We learned how to comment and revises our peers work and not only that but our own work. Some of the many things that we learned today consist of the proper parts of a conclusion statement, as followed:

Today, like always in Smiths class, we learned how to become better writers while having a little bit of fun. On the more serious side of things ALL assignments that are going to be redone are due on Monday. Other homework we had today was our PLN 6 is due tomorrow and we have to have a completed topic paragraph for our paper. We will be writing a paper all week about how words and actions affect others in one of the stories we have read. Our paper also has to include information and our thoughts about the movie Rope. Our topic paragraph needs one of these short stories; “Fish Eyes” by David Brenner, “Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, and “Utterly Perfect Murder” by Ray Bradbury. Our opening paragraph must include the following;

-          An attention getter
-          An explanation to our attention getter
-          Background/information about text
-          Thesis statement (one sentence at the end of paragraph, this must include author, title, restate the question, answer, and why)

After we were given time to work on this paragraph we edited with a different twist than usual; like the rest of Smith’s class we never follow the norm. For our editing we played musical chair! We would go around the desks and then stopped and edited whosever paragraph was in front of us. In Smith’s awe-inspiring class we learn each and every day how to become better writers and better people.

We learned what it takes to have a good presentation. A good presentation requires you to look at the audience as mush as possible. Today in our wonderful all gentleman's English class, we finished the movie Rope. At the ends of the movie, Rupert found out that Brandon and Phillip killed David. Rupert shot a gun out the window so that the police would come and arrest Brandon and Phillip for the murder. After we finished the movie we were handed a short story booklet where we marked page 27 of the story Most Dangerous Game. We found out that we need to read over the story and annotate it likewise:

What matters to me. My family matters to me the most. They are always there for me and always telling me to do my best. My mom helps me with all of my work, my dad helps be get better at sports, and my brother does sports with me all the time.
Sports also matters to me because I play them all the time. I play baseball football and basketball competitively. While I will play any sport when I'm with my friends. Sports keep be very busy and it helps me stay active.
Friends also mean a lot to me because I am with them a lot. I usually hang out at friend's houses. I also go to movies, games, or go boating. With out my friends I would have as great as a life.
Traveling is a big part in what matters to me. I have been to all 50 states and 14 different countries with my family. For Christmas break we will usually go some where warm, while during spring break we go somewhere tropical. I am so glad that my parents take me on great vacations.
Boating is a part of my life as well. I go with my family a lot and I bring some friends with me. I have such a fun time tubing and wake boarding. I have so much fun with my family and my friends whenever we go. I'm so glad and blessed to have such great people in my life.

Today in our amazing all boys’ English we had an eventful class. Our task was to watch the movie Rope and look for all the literary devices used in this old movie. Some of the things we were looking for were irony, theme, suspense, foreshadowing, characterization, and conflict. The movie Rope is about two men who murdered their acquaintance using nothing other than rope. Then these risky men decide to have a dinner party for the man they killed because they love the thrill of having to hide a murdered man. Some of the literary devices we saw today were irony in that a woman says that her horoscope predicted a great day but really her boyfriend was murdered by the men she is eating with. This example of irony is dramatic because she doesn’t know what actually happened but the spectator’s do. One of the most easily spotted devices was symbolism. I say this because Brandon (the murderer) had rope with him for a while during the dinner party and he used this robe to kill his acquaintance (David). The rope symbolizes the deceitful murder that Brandon had just preformed. This movie also portrayed the characters very well. The director gave hints on who the characters really were and what they were like. One example of this was shown through Philips (murderer) facial expression and tenseness, As the night goes on and as more people started coming to the party he becomes almost paranoid because he is so scared he will get caught. One of the most daunting devices in this movie is the foreshadowing. David’s aunt tells Philip that his hands will bring him great fame but the spectator knows this could only mean two things; Philip will get caught or they will murder again. This foreshadowing really makes you think because there could be two turnouts from it. Today in our wonderful class we learned a lot about how literary devices should be used in writing, and if I learned one thing today it is to never eat off of a chest; because you never know if there will be a body in it or not.

The blood sweat and tears i have shed in this helmet have made me one with it.

What matters to me is family, family matters to me because you only have one. I love my parents and other family members. My dad is my biggest role model because he taught me everything I know now from making smart choices to good manners.

Hockey is important to me hockey is the most important thing in my life next to family. I have a saying for hockey and it’s “hockey is where I live. Life is just a place to spend time between games.” I have been playing hockey for 7 years now and it is my favorite activity.

What Matters

School matters to me because I need to know about what has happened from the old times all the way to the present. I need to know about how the world became what it is now. It is very important to know about what we have now that people did not have before, like our rights. The Constitution is something very important to know. Also, school is important because it will teach us better grammar, improved writing and a big one is math, for almost everything in life, sooner or later we use math, you even need it for sports.

Sports matter to me because I have always done some kind of sport that makes me run or dive. Soccer and basketball are my favorite, because I like running as fast as I can and looking for someone open and passing it right to their feet or chest. To me sports are a big part of my life because it keeps me active. I am one of the three kids on my dad’s side of the family that does a sport. I play soccer and basketball. My cousin is at Oregon State University and he is a kayaker. My brother is a basketball player at The College of Monterrey in Mexico and my Dad was a QB for the Washington Huskies a while ago. On my Mom’s side of the family I have cousins who play football, baseball, basketball, soccer and wrestling.

Family matters to me because they help me in life. For example, they give me what I need as far as food, clothes and other things. They are always there for me when I struggle in school or in any other situation. My sister Kacie provides lots of fun fighting time. My brother Cory helps me be a better athlete. What matters? Everyone has something that matters to them, some have more than others but these are the things that I found matter to me.

Hockey matters to me. All my life i have been surrounded by hockey. My dad and all his brothers have played since they there young kids and have brought me up through the game. After countless hours at the rink and on the ice it has become an obsession for me. I cant go a week without lacing up the skates getting a good session in. There is no other feeling like when you get a good shot off and you feel the puck slide across your blade then watch it fly through the air for a split second as it floats over the goalies right shoulder in between his glove and his head and hits the cross bar and heads down while towards the ice. The sound of the glorious ding and the crowds cheering fill the rink and you cant even hear them. After a quick celebration its strait back out on the ice for another shift. As you get the puck at center ice and you see only one bender ahead of skating backwards and you know exactly how you are going to humiliate him in front of everyone. You hold your stick out to the side of you body and wait for him to take the bate and of course he does, you then slide the puck in between the small opening in his skates and dance around him with ease while avoiding the hit as you processed to go down on the goalie and make slide out of the net with a witty fake and light push the puck into the net.

School Matters to me. You can tell most people including me don't like school, at all. But no matter how much you don't like it you have to go and you can choose whether or not to do good. I know that my future starts now, if i do good in school i have endless possibilities and a promising future but if I don't do good, well it wont look so good for me. Starting this year I am going to try as hard as i can at school.

Family matters to me. As much as you might dislike your parents or siblings you love them, no matter what your family is always there and nothing compares to family. Things can get rough but you have to spend the next four or five years of your life with them everyday so it'd be better if you keep it on speaking terms with everyone. Family really matters to me I know i really matter to them and i plan on keeping that way.

My friends and family are a very large part of what matters to me, but I also think it is important to get out side. God has also helped me out a lot.
Friends are important because they always seem to be uplifting. Even when you think it is impossible to be cheerful a good friend can always make you laugh. Friends can turn an incredibly awful task into actual enjoyment. Friends always have your back which is also very important because every now and then you need some one to trust.
Thow my family has their conflicts just like any other family, I am almost certain, but still I can trust my family with almost anything. This is important to me because it almost lightens the load on me. If I need help on school my family is always there. There always to help.
The third and most important person in my life is God. He has always helped me when I need. He has also introduced great to me. He is the reason why I am who I am today.

Religion matters to me. God has helped me get through many things and life and I absolutely love him for that. Also praying to the Lord helps me get through the day and helps me make good decisions. Although I don’t wear a cross I have one embedded in my heart. Whether it’s playing sports or taking a test or even going to bed I know he is with me. Without Jesus I would be lost and I am trying to stay on the path of righteousness and become a better and a more religious man as I grow.

Family matters. Although I fight with my sister or my mom sometimes, I still love them through think and think. My dad has helped me improve in athletics, and has really inspired me to be a hard worker. For my mother she has given me the spark to be more outgoing and crazy. I love my family I can’t imagine a life without them. Finally my three sisters (Natalie 10, Megan 25, and Jess 27,) have helped me earn a characteristic I believe I have which is respectful. Even though I like to mess around, I still have respect for someone I just met or a long time friend.

My friends matter to me. The friends I’ve made here at this high school have already helped out a lot. They respect me for who I am and treat me like a regular human being. They all help me get around the school in case I forget where a class is I know their there to help. Finally I love hanging out with my friends because I always have fun with them and quite frankly they make me a happier person.

My teachers and coaches matter to me. I have progressed so far already from sixth to ninth grade in my skill work for writing, math, and social studies. With the struggle in seventh grade my eighth grade teachers were such a great blessing and helped learned many skills. My basketball coaches have helped me learned many skills and have made me stronger and quicker. I have learned that in order to succeed in this world you must work hard and you can’t be a quitter I’ve learned this lesson from both my teachers and coaches. Even when times are rough you just got to push through in order to get to the good times in life. Life is just a long waiting line and you can either get out and be a quitter or you can stay in it and be able to have a great time once you get on that ride.

Finally I like to be there for my friends. This matters to me because I hate it when I see someone upset or angry. I want to be that kid who’s always there to pick someone up when they get knocked down. I also feel bad when I talk behind someones back because I shouldn't judge right away. Instead I should put myself in their shoes because that person might be going through a tough time. I want people to think of me as a kind and caring person, and I take myself accountable if I do something wrong or immoral.

Lots of things matter to me, but some more than others. Here is what matters to me the most.

One major part of my life that matters to me is hockey. Hockey lets me know the whole team had worked until they couldn’t skate another inch and was rewarded with a victory. With the hard work I put in, I come out feeling stronger and faster after every practice and game.

Along with the sport, my hockey team matters to me. Playing with the same coach and some kids for eight years lets us get to know each other. Even the new kids to the team soon become good friends who we watch out for. Every player on the team is willing to come together on the ice, protect one another, and win. Having a team like that really does matter to me.
Drums make a big impact on my life. Playing or even thinking about drums keeps my mind thinking quickly. Drums are an amazing source for relaxing. While I am jamming to a ‘’Rush’’ song or just soloing for the fun of it, nothing can get to me. Homework or a test can’t bother me at all.

Sleep is extremely important to me. After a long day of working hard or staying up late, nothing is better than relaxing for just a little bit then going to sleep. With enough hard work, it doesn't matter what time it is or where I am, sleep is sleep. That could mean after an early morning hockey game on the car ride home, or at 2 a.m after hanging out with some friends until 12:00 over the summer. It doesn't matter, but sleep does.
My dog makes an enormous impact on my life. Every day after school, my dog Scooter is waiting for me and immediately runs to me. After I pet him for a little while, he likes to go lie down by the couch while I eat. Then I pet him even more while he rests under the couch. Not only do we spend a lot of time together, he also protects me from anyone, even people he knows. Any time someone gets too close, he will growl or step in just to be sure I'm not in any danger.
Of course, school matters a lot in my life. I study hard and do my homework because I know my future depends on it. If I didn't go to school or didn’t try, my whole life would spiral down and I would lead myself into a very poor and terrible ending.

Like anyone, my friends and family matter to me also. My family supports me no matter what it is, stupid or not, they are there. My friends also help me out with my school work and watch out for me. If a crazy stupid idea pops into my head, they may not stop me, but they at least keep me safe.

With so many important topics in my life, it is good to know which ones really matter the most. All of these activities and people make a very big impact and I hope to stay with them for the rest of my life..

Striving to be a well rounded person is a important goal of mine. The things that matter to me are the cornerstones of the foundation that i am building to help me reach that goal.

School matters to me, without an education I know that I wont reach my full potential in life. Now school is probably one of the hardest things you will do in life, but its also the most important. You will not find anyone successful that did not get a good education. The kids that say that school isn’t important and that they can do everything they want to do without school, are not going to have a good future and they will have a harder time providing for themselves and their children, when they decide to have them.

Technology matters to me, without technology the world wouldn’t be as great as it is today; Technology makes our lives so much easier, Have you ever personally written a report or looked something up that took less time than it did on a computer? Also Technology just makes life easier in general. Not to mention all of the fun you can have on computers; I am a gamer and I play most of my games on my laptop. I play League of Legends, Guild Wars, Combat arms, and I’m planning on starting to play many more in the future. Technology helps me look up something that i have a question about and also helps me research topics i am interested in.

My family matters to me, they do everything possible for me and they are always pushing me to do better. I love my family and nothing will ever change that. My dad got me to start playing another sport after spending 3 years of my life without taking on a sport. My mom helps me get through scouts and does so much more for me then I credit her for.

Tennis matters to me, It matters because its the first sport that I am actually looking forward to playing. The guys on the Arapahoe tennis team are awesome and always made practice fun in the summer. Also Tennis has been a great stress reliever for me, because when I'm having a stressful day I can just get on a ball machine and smash a few till I'm feeling better. Also the social network of it has thrown me into many situations that i have had to figure out quickly on my own such as how to communicate better with teammates and opponents.

My friends matter a lot to me, they are a bit weird but they are some of the funniest and nicest people I’ve met. They are never mean to one another so they are good to hangout with when you wanna just get away from all of the drama of high school and life.

Being of service to my community matters to me. Several ways i do that is on weekends i volunteer at a Teen program on Saturday nights through the South Suburban Recreational facilities. I do this because i know that the experience and growth throughout the program will help me become a more responsible person and will help me with problem solving, learning how to approach different situations like interpersonal conflicts between attendees and my supervisory staff. Another thing i do is teach cotillion to grades 6-8 at the J.D.W program at Columbine Country Club. I do this because i like to dance and since I’ve taken cotillion since 4th grade it is easy for me to teach students all of the etiquette and social skills i have learned over the years.

Those things and many more are what matter in my life, without those things my life would be dull like a movie made by Van Sant.

What Matters to Me

In my life, there are certain people, activities, and beliefs that are very important to me. Specifically, the things are very close to me; I couldn’t live without them.

The first thing that matters to me is my extended family. While I don’t see them that much, when I do, it is one of my favorite things ever. I love to go to my cousin’s lake house with my family and just spend time with my family on an amazing lake. At this lake, I have learned many skills, but more importantly, I have learned so many amazing lessons. One of these lessons is being able to take advantage of the time you have with the people you love. I learned this because my grandma died when I was in second grade. I did not no her well because I was pretty young at the time. I wish I had talked to her more because she was a really neat person. I still miss her.

Sports matter to me because they really help me in so many ways. Sports help me prepare better for school, help me stay strong and healthy, and supply me with tons of competition. This may sound weird, but I love being able to compete and win in all sorts of things. I am very serious when it comes to sports and will always give 110 percent. Sports keep me engaged in school because if I don’t get my homework done, I will not be able to go to practice. By the way, I haven’t missed a practice in over two years. Participating in sports is a privilege and I take the opportunity very seriously.

My dog matters to me. Ask anyone and they will tell you that my dog is crazy. Even though he is crazy, he brings joy to my life. Chief is a mixed breed, half Boston Terrier and half Beagle. He’s still a crazy puppy, but I love him unconditionally. He is very affectionate, jumpy puppy, but for the most part, everyone likes him.

My faith matters to me. My family goes to church every Sunday. It is a great way to wrap up the week and start with a clean state. My church is very teen-oriented and it is really cool to be able to interact with kids your age who believe in the same thing. Our priest is a great leader and speaker and is very easy to follow. He relates his weekly homilies to everyday life and really helps us become more mature and better young adults.

My sisters matter to me. Over the last couple years, my sisters and I have become much closer. We can talk about anything and we try to help each other out by sharing experiences and advice. It is really different now that Ally, my older sister, is now in college. It’s just me and Lindsay at home. We really miss Ally. Though this is very tough, I now that it is a step in the right direction for Ally and the whole family.

Education matters to me. I sometimes take my education for granted. I know this is wrong, but I am actually very grateful for my opportunity at education. Young people are the key to the future and the key to young people is education. I believe every person has the right to a free education and the chance for a better future. America is built on this belief.

My parents matter to me. My parents are amazing people. They know just when you need a hug, a lecture, and a laugh. My parents have taught me so many valuable life lessons. I don’t know how I could ever begin to repay them. My dad has taught me how to be a real man. This involves being respectful, courteous, and generous, According to my dad, it’s important to always be a gentleman because that’s what people expect from you. My mom has taught me how to love unconditionally and how to forgive. My mom is one of the nicest human beings you will ever meet. She is always open to talk to, to lean on, and most importantly, she is always willing to listen. My mom will listen to you talk about your problems without chiming in to provide a solution -- unless I ask for one. Like my mom, my dad will always be there for me through thick and thin. He will stay strong for you when really he is the one that needs someone to lean on. My father gives and gives and gives and in never once does he ask for anything in return. My parents are amazing people and deserve an award of some sort. They are there for you through it all and will never give up on us or each other.

All of these things matter to me because without them, I would be such a different person. These things make my life better and easier. Without them, I would have an empty void in my soul.

Mountain Biking matters to me because it’s a thrill and an adrenaline rush! I started mountain biking when I was 7 and have loved it ever since. Through all the years of crashing I have learned one thing. Always out do yourself. You can’t get better if you aren’t trying, but with that comes injuries. Although I have not broken any bones, I have had forearms full of raspberries. Not many of my friends mountain bike so I’m mostly alone when I bike. This past Christmas I got my first dual suspension bike, a Specialized Demo 7. I love it and I take care of it like my child, and have been rippin it down trials all summer long.

Skiing matters to me because it never gets boring and you never stop improving. When you hit a stash of powder you feel like you are floating across the ground. That is what I look forward to every winter. I mostly ski Winter Park in Colorado, but others resorts that fit my fancy are Aspen Snowmass, and Vail. The thing about all these mountains is that they all have excellent back country skiing areas. I tried out for the Winter Park Junior Ski Patrol and made it, but the extensive training that follows is too much work for a freshman in high school. I met many people that were as good and or even better than me; I still kind of wish that I ‘d done the training so I could get tips for skiing and make news friends on the slopes.

Family matters to me because they will always be there for me, through the good times and even the bad times. My family guides me in my development as a young adult. I can always count on my brothers and my parents for advice. Because chances are that they have been through the same problems I have. My brothers bully and taunt me, just out of fun and to piss me off. But I can count on them to watch my back through high school. My Parents occasionally yell at me, but only to correct the mistakes that I have made and they do this so that I mature enough so that I can make the right choices when I'm in college and on my own.

God matters to me because he created me and all the things that matter to me. Without him none of us would be here. My religion plays a big role in my life. I have learned to love others as God has loved me. I go to a youth group every night not to socialize, but to enrich my life with the scripture from the bible. I learn from my mistakes but my mistakes get me closer to him because I know I will never be perfect.

Lacrosse matters to me because it is my favorite sport and I am dedicated to getting better and better. I have played since 3rd grade and have had a great time through games and though practices. I can’ Wait for Arapahoe lacrosse to start up so I can improve even more.

Family matters to me. My mom is great she cooks, cleans and, helps me out when ever I need help. My dad is really cool he is also a good cook and he likes and supports any thing I like and he always sticks up for me. My little brother(Henry) is really funny and hes a good little brother even if he is a pain sometimes. My pets are the best to my dog charlie is the nicest dog ever and my cat is the coolest cat. With out my family I don't know where I would be today. All together they are the best family I could ask for.

I have so many great friends that I cant name them all and each one has there own great personality and there all fun to hang out with. I know high school will just help out with making new one and being better friends with the one I already have.

Music matters to me. Although I don't play an instrument I love music it is another thing that helps me get threw life. It calms me down and makes me relaxed and happy. There is not much more I can say about it it is just a good thing in life.

Sports matters to me. I love all sports and they are all fun to play. They are another thing that keep me busy and they are all great exercise. I have met so many new people with sports specifically football and there just something to do and they all have great competition.

Cars matter to me. I love cars they are the best things in the world. There are so many different kinds and they are all cool except minivans. They are all unique and interesting. I cant wait to drive and get my own car. I love Muscle cars, Mustangs/Fords, Dodges, Plymouth's, and Pagani’s. The car I hope the most to drive is my dads Ford 1970 Torino. I think it would be cool to be a rally driver. They are truly one of the best things invented.

When I heard about the topic for this PLN I was excited because there are so many things that matter to me that I would have fun writing about. My Family is on the top of the list for things that matter to me. Family matters to me so much because they are always there for you and will never desert you like some friends do.

My mom matters to me because she has raised me to do my best and be a caring person to everything around me. My mom does a program at the Dumb Friends League called fostering where our family takes in animals that aren't ready for adoption and we prepare them to live with a family. Ever since I can remember there have always been animals in our home. She has taught me to love all animals and turned me into the person I am today. My mom and I are very much alike with our blond hair. We also have pretty much the same personality impatient and obnoxious. I remember when our family would go camping and roast marsh mellows she would always burn hers because she couldn't wait for them to be done properly. My mom grew up in Lompoc, California and has told me stories of her high school career which really helps me make good decisions at Arapahoe every day.

My Grandma matters to me because before I was old enough to go to school my parents worked all day and I would stay with my grandma. As a child she would always do what I wanted to do whether it be play baseball or make believe she has always been a good sport. Up to this day when she watches me in the summer while my parents are at work I have even forced her to play Call of Duty with me. She is a second mother to me and has always been there for my when I was sick. My grandma has many sayings that she has repeatedly told me over the years but I think the one I have heard more that any other is “Everything in moderation.” My grandma also matters to me because no matter what happens we will always have a strong bond.

My Dad matters to me because he is always telling me about how important today is in order to have a good future. Even though I always get the same lecture but I also realize that he is trying to help me. He also is like a friend to me because he acts so immature and stupid sometimes but it is all in good fun. One night before I knew how to swim I was diving into a pool with floaters. When the tubes came out from under my arms I sunk to the bottom of the pool, there were so many people splashing at the top no one knew I was down there. My dad spotted me and jumped in the pool with all of his clothes on to save my life. I realize now that his children mean more than the world to him and he would do anything to keep me and my siblings from harm. My dad and I have our ups and downs but he is always going to be there for me whenever I need help.

My Brothers (Matt and Greg) matter to me because they are always fun to be around. As a little kid they would torment me but as a teenager myself I can see how fun it would be to do the kind of things they did to me. Both Matt and Greg are off to college now and to be honest I miss them. If a younger version of me heard that I wouldn’t have to live with Matt and Greg forever he would be so excited for the day they left but I have been relatively sad about there departure.

My Sister Andie matters to me because she is a older female version of me. We both have light skin, blue eyes, and light hair. She is really fun to joke around with because she will always acted shocked and the things I say and give me a slap on the arm for it but its all fun. She will play video games with me and always talk trash before our competitions. She is a great person and I am lucky to have her as a sister.

Although your stuck with your family forever and sometimes they can be a major pain they are the most important thing in my life hands down. Family is the one thing that will always be there and I’m glad to have the one God has blessed me with.
